First-Time Homebuyer $8,000 Tax Credit

The best information is contained on the IRS form 5405, http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f5405.pdf

· Home purchases January 1, 2009 and before December 1, 2009.

· Married taxpayers’ max income up to $150,000 qualify for the full tax credit.

· Single taxpayers’ incomes up to $75,000 qualify for the full tax credit.

· The tax credit is equal to 10% of the purchase price up to $8,000.

· The tax credit does not have to be repaid.

· The tax credit is for first-time home buyers-IRS first-time home buyer is a person who has not owned principal residence during the last three-years.
